3. e-Learning in Product Basd Software Company...

In continues search for the increased efficiently all enterprises are looking for ways of obtaining the competitive advantage. Developing the intellectual capitals in an organization is one of the ways to reach the target (Jokic, et al., 2012). With the rapid development of new technologies in software industry, ability of an organization to provide on the job training is utmost important. As the software product developed through time delivering training of the new product features is also considered with an equal importance.

                                                 (What is e Learning, 2015)

e-Learning is a vast topic hence different authors have given different definition to it. As a summary, it is a computer-based system that enables users to learn from anywhere, anytime (Anon., 2014). No books or face-to-face interaction with the teacher but through electronic means (Bhandari, n.d.). Lessons can be delivered to users via in various means such as PC, mobile phones, PDA, etc.

Training needs of a product-based software company can be divided into two parts, i.e. internal training needs (training needs of employees) and external training needs (training needs of customers, partners and trainees). These internal and external trainees are geographically spread (works in different offices, different time zones) which makes delivering trainings, via traditional means very hard and costly.

There is a significant positive relationship between computer literacy and online learning attitude (Li & Lee, 2016). As almost all employers have sufficient computer literacy in a product-based software company, employees are less reluctant to move towards e-Learning. Work from home concept is highly popular within software companies, e-Learning enables deliver training for those employees.

When e-Learning is in practice, it also important to examine the leaner engagement with the course, completion rate and goals achieved. Pre-assessments helps users to identify their knowledge level and pay attention only the areas that they need help (Bhandari, n.d.). This reduces the time spent on learning up to about 50% (Bhandari, n.d.).

So, e-Learning concept allows Product based IT company to deliver trainings, just-in-time, efficiently, effectively, and at a lower cost, with multiple delivery options.

  2. Useful information about the topic.E-learning is a very good approach to implement in a product based software company when consider the computer literacy of employees as well. As you mentioned it is really very easy for employees as well when think of the class room based training, because the employee can access the training materials being in any place.
